Open House w/ Made Jewelry at the Room

[Thursday, October 22nd] The Lights Out High School ASB committee hosted our first "Open House" at the Room in Hollywood. Made Jewelry celebrated the release of their "Love & Hate" collection along with Mr. Mention, DJ Raichous, and Sosupersam. The Room was crackin' with mad females (mad meaning lots)! HAHA

"This past Thursday was our get down at The Room in Hollywood. Even though it's been awhile since I've moved to the Bay from LA, LA still knows how to throw the best parties! Good times with good people. Thanks for coming through and hope you ladies enjoyed those goodie bags."

For Your Listening Pleasure:

MIX #1: Made Jewelry presents MADEMix Vol. 3 "Love Hate" with the Bay's DJ Zita
1989 was the summer: Radio Raheem's 4-finger rings told the story of the left hand vs. the right, Hate vs. Love. It was the end of a decade of a tour de force in pop, soul and synthesizers. This new set by The Bay's DJ Zita, appropriately collected for MADE Jewelry's new line LoveHate, revisits the many sides of the 80s rubix cube. The intro stabs of "Funky Little Beat" evoke visions of poplockin under palm trees; Rufus & Chaka's harmonizing sounds like they could've lasted forever; Robert Smith's voice embraces the duality with equal parts rapture and melancholy. Who wins in the end? I bet Frisco mic vet Melina Jones knows: Left hand Hate K.O.ed by Love.

MIX #2: Clae Footware presents "Beautiful Music 4 Beautiful People" by Dam-Funk
In the raw by Dam-Funk Mixed live in Los Angeles' Leimert Park, utilizing all 'original wax' pressings, no MP3's or downloads were used in the making of this mix.

A longtime supporter of Clae, Dãm blessed us with a mixtape for the opening of our Clae shop-in-shop at the Stussy LA chapter. Didn't get a copy at the opening?

Pre-Open House

[Thursday, October 22nd] It was a busy Thursday day running around LA before our Lights Out: Open House with Made Jewelry. The day started off in Japan Town with a lunch date with Scott Baldwin (Vapors Studio) who was only in LA for just a few hours for a production meeting. I'm glad we got a chance to meet up before he headed back down to SD. Its been forever but congrats on your new Project Manager position at Vapors Studio.

Since I was already in DTLA, I decided to stop by the Hellz Bellz office to visit everyone and get some work done. It was like study hall with minor chit chat breaks every 15 minutes... HAHA!
I even got a new Hellz Bellz Men's t-shirt! If you didn't know they're doing a small Men's line that I'm super excited for... I can't wait!
Talia Sunset got a whole gift bag since she was hosting the Manila Relief event with Crooks & Castles and Hellz Bellz that night at Lucky Strike... Wish I could have stopped by but we were doing an event at the Room in Hollywood.
I went back to Mark's apartment in Miracle Mile to find out the ladies of Made Jewelry had converted it into a sweat shop! HAHA
We all headed out to Bowery off Sunset for dinner that night with the Made Jewelry fam.
Hi Abigail! HAHA
Thanks Sammie aka Sosupersam for awesome recommendation! 143!
Supposedly Bowery is known for their burgers, which are served on english muffins (I love english muffins)! I got a burger with onion rings, fried jalapenos, and an egg on it! It was the BOMB! HAHA
Time to head to the Room for the Lights Out High School x Made Jewelry Open House event!
