Art Walk in DTLA.

[Thursday, January 14th] Last month I went to my first Art Walk in Downtown LA, which is every 2nd Thursday of the month. A few friends came up from San Diego to check out our new place in LA before we mobbed out to Downtown 3 car loads deep. It was hella crackin'! We all ran into many familiar faces... Hello!

Since my Canon S90 is getting repaired, I tried using my iPhone to snap a few pictures, but its hard when there isn't a flash. FAIL!

Here's a picture Leila snapped on her iPhone before we headed out.

Has anyone seen "Eli" yet? I wonder if its good... I read some mixed reviews.
I've been trying to search for some art pieces that would fit in my room but I'm so picky...
These canvas pieces by a local photographer caught my eye but I decided to hold off... He had some amazing photos of LA.
We meet up with a few folks at Cole's, which is Philippe's french dip rival. The place was crackin' with folks out the door.
We headed over to LA Live to visit the Usual Suspects at Lucky Strike and get a game of bowling in.
I started off my first frame with a strike, but I was rusty!
Twinkle Toes my ass! HAHA
It was another fun adventurous night in LA! Come up for the next Art Walk on Thursday, February 11th.

I don't have a camera for 2 weeks! =(

So I had to take my new Canon S90 into Best Buy because it wasn't focusing when I was zooming in. The Geek Squad had to send it into Canon for repairs, which could take up to 2 weeks. In the meantime, I'm just gonna try to snap random pictures using my iPhone, which also means I am not going to be able to take any pictures in the club since it doesn't have a flash. =(

Hopefully it comes in sooner then later... In the meantime, make sure you follow me on Twitter: @tk_nguyen
If you're wondering why I posted this picture, I'm not sure why either. I just thought I'd use a picture to add to the post. Plus, this shit makes me laugh... This was in 1998, when I was a freshmen in High School. HAHA

“The Hadley is inspired by my love of vintage motorcycle boots with zippers and metal lace eye hooks detailing the black leather high top, The Sophie is an updated saddle shoe that’s been stripped down and built from the ground up with Hellz’s unique design aesthetic: Die cuts, metallic color blocking and buckle strap details.” – Lanie “Miss Lawn” Barcena

Taiwan Tuesdays w/ Ting Ting & Meng Meng

[Tuesday, January 12th] The home made cooking bar has continuously risen over the past few dinner nights we've had. I wasn't sure how Jenny Ting aka Ting Ting was going to step it up for her first Ting Ting Tuesday featuring co-host Jerry Meng aka Meng Meng, which actually came to be known as Taiwan Tuesdays. HAHA

CLICK HERE to view more photos from our feast.

Earlier in the day, Jerry & Jenny headed to the Asian supermarket and made it rain because they came home with over $200 worth of groceries! We're feasting tonight!
I don't even know what 2/3 of the stuff in there was...
Service with a smile! =)
We're one big Taiwanese family... HAHA!
I was even drinking Taiwan Beer, and if you know me, I don't drink beer! I was trying to get the full Taiwanese experience. I was even practicing my mandarin skills too. Xie xie Ting Ting!
Taiwan Tuesday w/ the Taiwanese: Jerry x Ben x Doug x Jenny
Jenny x Sunny x Chach x Mink
Why is everyone crowding around the kitchen?
I see... Its because Ben decided to lend a helping hand (which is rare) with the grass jelly dessert.
I haven't had grass jelly since I was in elementary school w/ An Diep aka Mom. Shit is the bomb!
Alright time to get back to work!
Thanks again to the Taiwanese team of Jenny Ting & Jerry Meng. It was fun to have a few people gather around and joy another home cooked meal. I loved it and so did everyone else. So what are we eating next week? HAHA

Damn, its Wednesday now and we don't have a cook for Wednesday. =( I guess I'm just gonna have to make cereal for dinner since I don't know how to cook. Any volunteers!? =)

Have I told you how much I love Mila Kunis?

I know Leo & Fatch are gonna love this video... HAHA!

Edwin Himself: Interview with Neill Orje

When you ask Neill Orje what he does for a living, he’ll probably never tell you that he spends most of his waking hours behind a paintbrush. Always soft spoken, the world seems to stop and listen to get a rare chance to hear him speak. Born and raised in Southern California, Orje built his style around surrealist ideals and a collection of personal experiences. While completing his Art degree at San Fransisco State, Orje was sharing gallery space with Richard Deacon and Gerhard Richter at the de Young Museum.

After making it back to his hometown of San Diego for a quick stay, Orje relocated to Los Angeles to join the Artist in Residency Program at Raid Projects, a renown exhibition and curatorial organization located east of downtown LA; at the Brewery district. I was able to connect with Neill and field him a few questions about some the work he’s been up to.
