R&R: Rhythm & Recreation x Illmatic Showcase

[Friday, November 20th] Since Jomo has already blogged about this past Friday's R&R: Rhythm & Recreation at Thin/Onyx, I thought I'd just repost his recap. Thanks Jomo!

Shout out to DJ Marlino and Heavy Rotation for putting together the Illmatic Showcase, which will be going on every 3rd Friday of the month at Onyx. Thanks to Stay Fresh's Chris Cruz and DJ Zeb for coming through to guest host the event. I apologize for showering you guys with champagne! HAHA

@Chris_Cruz: When TK told me he has 5 bottles for me to come down and host, I thought I'd be drinking em, not wearing em! Great times!

Take it over Jomo:
A lot of pictures from the Rhythm & Recreation event at Thin and Onyx. Much props to Toe-Knee for letting me use his pictures (his Flickr). To sum it up, we continued the party from Vegas, and brought it back to San Diego! We were non-stop, having a blast until they kicked us out. I don't think a lot of people got super faded; it was all genuine fun and love!

Recommended: El Chato Taco Truck

The Marks: Mark Marcelo x Mark Villa and I made a stop at the famous El Chato taco truck for dinner the other night. Supposedly its the best taco truck that you'll find in the Mid-Wilshire area and anywhere west of it. LA Weekly named the El Chato Taco Truck as one of the "Top 10: Late-Night Grub for Nocturnal Foodies."

We got 3 burritos for under $15!
The Carne Asada Burrito. It was different that my usual San Diego style burrito because it didn't have sour cream or guacamole, but it was just as delicious. It had a more authentic taste.
Its another recommended spot to hit up when your'e in LA!

Just in case you missed it...

Because I did too! Here's another amazing performance by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys at the 2009 AMA's. Damn, I love Alicia Keys! She's classic!

I was kinda sad that Lil' Momma didn't crash the stage... NOT! HAHA

Recommended: The Village Idiot

I headed out to the Village Idiot on Melrose last week for a brainstorming meeting with the Playmore Group. Thanks to Dean (owner) for taking care of us.

The Village Idiot is one of those spots people can go to any time of the day for good food, good drinks, and a good atmosphere.
Starters:
+ Mezze plate - grilled flatbread, spiced hummus, smoked eggplant, toasted pine nuts, cilantro - $10
+ Crispy pork belly, wilted greens, pickled apple - $9
+ Warm chorizo stuffed bacon wrapped dates, roasted pepper tomato sauce - $8
+ Pub burger, balsamic onion relish, frieds - $12 + fried egg - $2... So good!
Ben (Clae) got the oak-grilled pork sausage, caramelized onions, yukon mash, with red wine sauce - $13... Emphasis on the pork sausage because there were two! Oh Ben! HAHA
Jerry Meng (3 Steps Ahead) x DJ Ia x Doug Wu (Collective)
Productive meeting... Time to make it happen!

Afterwards I headed back to Mark Marcelo's place to finish the rest of my 26 page paper. Once I finally finished, I was fiending for a drink so I decided to head over to Kiss Lounge for Jenilee (LOHS) and Neran (Diamond) for their weekly Monday 90s party.

TK x Jenilee x Nick Diamond
Neran (right) and his friend were both out reppin' DC!
I went to Kitchen 24 afterwards with Kristen Brockman and Jenilee. Did you know both of them were both "Deal or No Deal" girls?
I ran into a Quest Crew and Stay Fresh who were coming from Wally's (Orisue) birthday bash at Crimson. Good seeing you guys...

Time to end the night with an After School Special! I think they should start sponsoring me! HAHA

Day 4: Back to Cali

[Sunday, November 15th] Everyone meet up in my room Sunday afternoon after they checked out so we could enjoy our last supper together in Sin City. Since people were still drunk from Jet, we decided to get pho at Pho Tai Long. Shit was amazingly delicious!

CLICK HERE to view more photos from Vegas.

Time to roll out... Why does Mink and Mark looked booed up in this photo? HAHA
That's a lot of luggage!
OMG! This was seriously the best tasting pho I've ever had. It was the perfect compliment after a long night of partying!
This picture makes me so hungry...
Why does Edric look so funny in this picture?
Time to say farewell to Vegas and head back to Southern Cali!
I think Hannah's been getting too much attention as my assistant... HAHA! 143!
Before we left we caught the second half of the Chargers vs. Eagles game. Go Bolts!!!
Chach, Ray, Rygar, and I also decided to do some last minute betting and all came up $100! Let it ride! It was the perfect way to end an awesome trip!
I love this photo of the new Louis Vuitton store in Las Vegas! Good bye Las Vegas...
On our way back we all made a pit stop at In N' Out in Barstow. Apparently everyone from San Diego was also making a stop there to because we ran into hella folks.
143!
Thanks again to Hvyrsnl, Usual Suspects LA, 21XL, and everyone else that came out to all of our events that weekend. I love my Victory Nightlife family & friends! I can't wait for Mayweather vs. Pacquaio weekend... Its gonna be even crazier!

This was probably the most sober I've ever been in Vegas, but it was also one of the most productive trips I've had. I had an awesome time and I got an opportunity to connect with lots of different people... Can't wait until the next trip back to Vegas! 143!
